SGN 5.40 Password recovery is not producing pre-populated password

Hello all

I'm testing a password recovery scenario which works on Vista, but not on XP.

I'm testing the following scenario for password recovery. It's AD integrated SGN deployment. So user logs onto SGN POA with domain credentials.

Lets assume, use does not know his password and he wants to access the system.

The work flow is as below:

1. SGN 5.40 encrypted XP system is connected to LAN

2. User is going through challenge response from SGN console by selecting "Boot SGN client with user logon"

3. Once successful C/R completes, user should get a SGN window where old password is pre-populated (as user does not know his old password) and user will be asked to change new password.

The exact steps work for Vista systems but not on XP. I have seen this working before on 5.35 and earlier.

I have checked gina replaced with sggina.dll and and old gina shows as msgina.dll.

Anyone has any suggestions on this please. Any help is really appreciated.

Many thanks

Is there anything else can be checked on XP to find why pre-populated old password is not showing up?

  • Hi rcmichelle,

with regards to you post I will have to tell you that such tools must not be used together with SafeGuard Enterprise. SafeGuard Enterprise uses the same password as the windows user but only if the password change is properly made on a machine running SafeGuard Enterprise and therefore having the GINA or the Credential Provider present.

Using your tool you will make a password change that is not recognized by SafeGuard Enterprise which will then cause the passwords to become out of bound making things worse.
