SGN Enterprise - Computer in wrong AD-OU after Registration

Hello Guys,

we have SGN Enterprise 5.50, our Server runs on Windows 2003 Server. On our Clients run WinXP and in the future Win7.

Now, we are testing Windows 7 Clients and SGN Enterprise.

Following question:

A SGNClient with Device Encryption is installed on a Notebook (Windows 7).

Before that, the Notebook was moved in a special OU in our AD (we moved it in the AD, not with the Management Center). After that we synchronize the Management Center with the AD, so that it notices that the Notebook is in the special OU. Now the SGNClient installation is executed.

After the reboot and the authentication to SGN, we can see the Notebook in the Management Center, but it is in the .Auto registered-OU (at the Root-Directory, not in our AD) and not in the special OU where we have moved it. Why? Normally it should be in the special OU... or shouldn't it?

We have searched in the Knowledge Base of Sophos and googled, and didn't find anything. Now, this is our last chance to fix this problem.

I hope you will answer.

Thank You

FSchuman

  • Hi FSchumann,

based on your description I would assume that the Netbios Name of the object could not be determined correctly. IN this case the machine cannot be matched to the object that you just imported.

Also did you ensure that the computer object did show up after the sync of the Management Center and did you synchronize the root and the destination OU of the object?

Netbios name can be checked by right clicking on the object > properties.
Objects will also show up under autoregistered in case that the machine is not a domain member.

    Regards

    Dan
