SGM401: Invalid kernel error

Thank you for posting your question on the SophosTalk community forums.

I'm assuming you are using SG Easy and it's a 4.x version. If you can provide that version that would be very helpful. While I found the same information using Google which reads:

You will need a floppy drive or USB floppy to boot from and a 3.5" disk.

1) google aefdisk and put this on the (bootable) floppy. Don't make me come over there and tell you how to make a bootable floppy.

2) Boot from the floppy.

3) Run "aefdisk 0 /mbr" from the A:> prompt.

I have never personal gone this route of recovery for SGE and based on the other forum it looks like a couple people had success. I recommend using the SGE Emergency Disk. Read through this KBA 102166 for details about how this tool works and how you can download it. Make sure you have the version of SGE you are using handy so you can download the correct version of the Bootable Rescue Image.
