SGE 7.0 upgrade

How many folks have successfully performed the SGE 6.01 -> 7.0 upgrade? What was your configuration like (MSSQL cluster, etc)?

  • Hi ttl,

The upgrade process for the backend is pretty seamless.

You'll want to turn IIS off for the duration of the upgrade process during your change control window.

Once completed ensure you have a working backup of the SafeGuard SQL database.

Put the DB into single user mode, and execute the upgrade script on the DB.

Put the Database back into multi user mode.

Upgrade the SafeGuard management center, and launch it once completed.

It will check the db integrity to ensure the upgrade was successful.

Upgrade the SafeGuard server software, and then start IIS again.

Verify the clients can connect to the server.

The whole process should take 10 minutes or less.

The clients them selves do not need to be upgraded unless they're exhibiting issues. Clients 6.x are backwards compatible with the SafeGuard 7 server. Any clients on SafeGuard 5.60.x should be upgraded as support is stopping for them at the end of March.

For future endpoint installs, you'll want to use the SafeGuard 7 client software.

  • Thanks Lee. The Best Practices guide lists upgrading the Server software before the Management Console, does the order make a difference?

  • Hi,

when doing the SafeGuard Enterprise Server / Management Center update, the update order does not make any difference.

    Regards,
