Install issues with Safeguard Disk Encryption

I'm a first time user with Disk Encryption, and have followed the install guide to the letter; creating a default policy and the subsequent deployment MSI package.

Ran the  guide specified pre-requiste SGxClientPreinstall.msi before attempting to install the Default Package.msi

However when I go to install the default package I am returned the error;

Please install one of the SafeGuard Enterprise Modules first.
Contact your support personnel.

I've logged in a a local admin and with domain admin credentials and been returned the same error.

Also tested with & without a reboot between the preinstall file and the default package.

Has anyone else experienced/overcome this issue?

All help much appreciated!!!!!

  • Hi Hogwam,

    did you install the SGN_Client package before trying to install the Defaulf Package.msi or did you try to install straight awyay?

    The correct installation order would be

    1. Pre Install

    2. SGN_Client

    3. Default Package (this is the client configuration package)

    Regards

    Dan

  • I am getting the same error message with SafeGuard 5.5.

    What does 1. Pre Install and 2. SGN_Client mean?  I don't see any of that in the SafeGuard policy editor.

  • When you download and extract the package, it creates an unzipped folder structure containing a folder called 'install', as well as 'docs' and 'tools'.

    In the install folder you will find;

    SGxClientPreinstall.msi

    SDEClient.msi

    These are the two MSI packages you need to install on a client machine, in that order, followed by the MSI generated by the Policy Editor.

    The MSI to install policy editor is also in the install folder.
