Safeguard Encryption Problems | Not Encrypted?

Hello all.  I'll try to make this as clear as possible, however I didn't make any of the three packages we have for installation of Safeguard.

Our installation will be standalone as most of the machines will be off the network for a majority of the time.

I install our three package, PreInstall, Client, then Default Package (i assume that this is the Policy configuration.  The PC goes through the encryption process fine and shows a green key on the C: drive when completed.

If I were to take that drive and put it into another PC as a slave, it would recognize the drive, however it cannot read it.

If I were to put that drive into another PC and boot it as primary, it boots fine.   We were under the impression that this should not happen.  Can anyone give insight as to what we may be doing wrong?

Thanks in advance!

Graeme

  • Hi Graeme,

thank you very much for posting and welcome to the forum.

With regards to your description I can tell you that the drive is encrypted as soon as a green overlay icon is shown. Now, if you attach the drive as a secondary drive to a different machine access won't be possible by default if you don't own the key already.

But if you add the drive as a primary one into a machine and you authenticate to the POA correctly the drive will be loaded as normal (if you are attaching the drive to different hardware the system might BSOD but this is Windows related and not encryption related)

Baseline for this is that there is no machine binding with SafeGuard Enterprise as you might expect it.

    Regards

    Dan
