Fingerprint Logon - It really won't work

Did anyone else out there realise that it's ONLY Lenovo laptops that are supported with fingerprint logon? I've been using the Utimaco products for years on many platforms and it's not until we were forced into switching from SG Easy to SGN that we ever had any issues with FPL. It turns out that only a very restricted list of readers are supported and all of those are ONLY on Lenovo's. See: http://www.sophos.com/support/knowledgebase/article/108789.html

What a HUGE oversite! Do they really think there's only one laptop manufacturer with biometrics.

  • Tehnically not true. If you have the same upek chip as a lenovo and the same drivers then it'll work. This is hit and miss though, I've had to back-rev some HP's FP software to get this working and the same on some Lenovo's. I know for example that I need version 5.85.6580 of the lenovo thinkvantage FP software for an X201 running win 7 64 bit with SGN 5.50.0.116. The software shipped with the laptop is newer and does not work. It's worthwhile stepping back revs to see if any work with HP if they share the Upek chipset.
