SafeGuard Policy Editor set-up

Hi all,

Am struggling to get the Policy Editor configured, after entering the SQL server instance, password and certificate backup location and clicking OK- the progress bar on the bottom left get to about half way before showing the message below:

      Database creation failed.

      Insufficient Rights

Could not find stored procedure 'sp_MSget_setup_paths'.

I am installing Safeguard on server 2003 standard with SP2, SQL Express 2008

can anyone confirm if SafeGuard 5.35.3 works using SQL Express 2008?

thanks

    Hi c4chan,

Thanks for joining the SophosTalk Community and posting a question.

It looks like you have a couple things going on there which all look like they are pointing to a compatibility mismatch. According to the Release Notes for SGN Policy Editor 5.35.3 the data SQL Express databases supported are SQL Express 2005 SP1 and SP2. The AdminCD.ZIP file also contains a compatibility version of SQL Express.

Also, to ensure you have proper rights, read pages 19-20 of the SGN_Installation_en.pdf guide. Page 20 is a table so that should be a fast read. I'm advising this because your error read that there are "Insufficient Rights".

Another thought is rather than using SGN 5.35.3, you can go straight to SGN 5.40 so you won't have to upgrade later. SGN 5.40 *does* support MS SQL Express 2008.

Please let us know if this resolves the issues. Thanks again for your posting.
