Can't access D:drive after format C: drive

Hi,

We have encrypted harddisk on user's laptop both C: and D: drive. And once we format C: drive to re-install windows, we can't get in thru D:Drive, it seems still encrypted. What should we do?

  • Hi

To solve this you have to locate the key that was encrypted the drive d:\. Than you access the Safeguard Console and add the key to a user that have permission to log in to the new installed machine. With this, the user will have permissiona to access the drive.

Other solution is that you can boot the fresh system with the Recovery Boot CD. Fisrt you go to the Safeguard Console and make a Recovery Client, than you expert the recovery client to a usb drive. After that you boot the system with the partition to be recovered with the Recovery Boot CD ( ftp.ou.utimaco.de)  than make a Challenge Response process to get access to the d: volume and copy the contents to another drive trough USB.

The Recovery client that you created and copied to the usb drive, you copy the .tok file to the folder in the x:\tools\SGN-Tools\ . Than you run the "Key Recovery" and do the chalenge response proccess. Wiht this you will receive access to the d: volume.
