SG Enterprise ActiveDirectory Passwords for Security Officers

Hello @ all!

I'm evaluating SafeGuard Enterprise 5.50.0 in my company. I imported our AD structure in SG Management Center, and added some Users from the ActiveDirectory as Security Officers for SafeGuard. When the Security Officer try to login in SG Management Center with his AD-User and AD-Password, the login failed because the Password is wrong.
I generated a new certificate for this user, with a new password. But everytime the Password should be changed, I have to delete the certificate (and the SO) and generate a new. Thats not feasible!
Is it possible to configure SafeGuard to lookup the Password in the ActiveDirectory?

  • Hi pbdwd,

than you very much for raising this question.

In order to use a AD user account as SGN SO it is required that the user has a certificate. The certificate is usually created when making the User a SGN user > the user is added to a machine as a valid POA account.

From this point on the password for the Management Center is equal to the user password. In order to change the user password this needs now to be done on a client that has SGN installed - the password change must be done using the SGN GINA (default installed when installing SGN client).

In case that the password is changed on a non SGN machine or centrally in the AD the PW will become out of band.

There is no other way to change the PW for a user.

    Regards
    Dan
