SGE 5.50 install without server parts?

Old 4.x versions could be installed to end user computer only. Now we got SGE 5.50 and all installation instructions start by telling me to install server parts first and then parts for end user computer. For me this sounds like a total overkill as we need to install new 5.50 to only one computer.

Thus my question is if SGE 5.50 can be installed and configured without those server based parts (for single computer only)? If so, how it can be done? Computer in question is running Windows 7 Ultimate 64-bit.

    Hallo JackL,

    no, you do not need the server parts. Please check this document

    However, on the PC you install it first, there will be a small policy editor and - if you do not choose otherwise - a small SQLexpress database. This PC will be your "admin" PC. You can then create a policy and use this policy for all other user clients.

    JackL -- I had this same question a month or so ago.  The solution was to get with Sophos and schedule a 2 hour consultation with one of their engineers.  We ended up loading the policy editor on a computer and configuring the policies how we wanted for our company.  We then created the installation package and saved the package, along with the Preinstall, and Clientinstall files (all three packages are required for a stand alone install).

    Get with your rep and schedule some time with an engineer....
