Sophos and OPAL SSD Drive - performance

I have Sophos Safeguard Enterprise installed on my company laptop. 5.60.0.192

My laptop has got SAMSUNG SSD PM830 Opal compliant drive.

My expectation was that with OPAL drive, the performance cost of encryption should not be visible at all. However my drive is still much slower than on plain Win7 (w/o encryption).

I am wondering if my sophos client really takes advantage of OPAL and did not fall back into SW encryption. Is there any way to check it from the client if Sophos is using OPAL feature to accelerate HW encryption?

I'm pretty sure your Samsung drive is not 100% OPAL compliant, we had the same issues with our Samsungs that came with Dell laptops. Also, you need to take a look at this document: http://www.sophos.com/support/knowledgebase/article/113366.html for more info on OPAL compliance.

I'm pretty sure your Samsung drive is not 100% OPAL compliant, we had the same issues with our Samsungs that came with Dell laptops. Also, you need to take a look at this document: http://www.sophos.com/support/knowledgebase/article/113366.html for more info on OPAL compliance.
