SafeGuard Enterprise Device Encryption 5.5 - computer does not shutdown

Hello together,

this is my first post and I'm very glad that I found this community for all the SGEN problems ;-)

Last year we bought the Utimaco SafeGuard Enterprise Device Encryption for all our notebooks and on several notebooks we have problems after SG was installed.

The actual problem is, that we have a notebook with SafeGuard 5.5 and every time the user want to shutdown it, it hangs on the shutdown process. The window where Windows always say that the network connections will be shutdown is already disappeared and than the computer remains on with no window and just a blue background.

The only chance to shutdown it, is to push the on/off switch a long time.

This notebook had the same failure with SG 5.4, I thought I can solve it with an update to V5.5, but it's still the same problem.

Do you have an idea what it can be and what I can try to solve it?

Thank you very much!!!

Regards,

BaSchu

  • What make/model are the problem laptops, and what OS are you running?

We had similar problems with some older Lenovo laptops (Lenovo R6x and T6x) running Windows XP because of the Multimedia Center for Think Offerings software preinstalled on them.  The CD burning software was incompatible with SGN 5.40, and was causing intermittent lockups, problems shutting down and on a few machines, complete slowdown (to the point of being unusable).
