Boot from CD or USB Stick after POA Authentification

Hi,

for Maintenance and Repair we want to boot from a CD or USB Stick after the Harddisk is decrypted.

In the Policies it is possible to change the Setting "Allow Boot from Harddisk Only"

We have changed this Setting to "No".

In the Bios is First Boot Device CD Drive, Second Removable Device, 3rd Harddisk

POA is booting , User Credentials is verified.

In the Options we can only say boot from Network or Floppy Disk, No CD Option is there.

Is it possible to boot from a Bart PE CD for example to make a Antivirus Scan of the Harddisk?

We know the Procedure of the Recovery with the Safe Guard Easy Rescue CD. But this is to heavy if you want to do some Maintenance on an Workstation or Laptop.

A Machine without Encryption is very Easy to take Maintenance.

Is there a Solution to make it easy with Safe Guard Easy 5.5

Best Regards

Greenberet

  • Hi Greenberet,

    you asked:

Yes, we have a Windows PE option, also called "virtual client" (see manual). You need to do a challenge/response to authenticate and boot Windows PE with SGN filter drivers. That will allow access to the hard disks.

I admit, that this is not as simple as without an encrypted drive. But if you want to boot an encrypted drive without any kind of authentication, you will not need security / encryption at all.

    Hope this helps you,
