Some files on a network share have read-only locks when using certain software

Could you please suggest whether this network share is mapped on any of the user's client machine where Safeguard is installed?

If yes, please suggest if you are using file encryption with location-based encryption module.

The files that get locked are part of an application called Payrite. The users do not have a drive mapped - the software on the client PC just accesses the files on a share on a NAS box.

We are rolling out Synchronized Encryption - we are not encrypting files yes - we just have a read only policy set up. i.e. Application-based using the default AppList and defined locations with no locations set.

The files are .DAT data files that are used by the software. They do not get imported or exported - they are just part of the software.

At no point are they encrypted.

If that is the case, we need to collect many logs as it is performance and access related issues. I'd request you to open a support case here.

I would suggest making an "ignore"/exclusion policy for them, to rule out SafeGuard affecting the files?

I already have payrite.exe listed in 'Ignored Applications' in the 'File Encryption' tab of the 'General Settings' Poilcy.

And have you added the path to the application (and where it stores its files) too?

No because we only have a read-only policy at the moment (Defined locations and no locations set) and also it is not in the 'AppList' anyway.

Please suggest if I am not wrong currently you have Synchronized encryption module installed on the client machine.

If it is the scenario your file should not be affected in terms of encryption or lock state because encryption of those files happens if they are created by the application mentioned in the policy.

In this scenario, files are used by the software not created by it. So files must be affected with some other point of Safeguard enterprise.

I'd request you to open a case with support and provide me with the case number in PM.
