necessity of RED unlock code

Since the RED device belonged to the seller, they should provide you with the RED Unlock code.

Seller states that he is selling as-is and specifically without unlock code. Therefore he won't be providing the unlock codes. Given this and were I now to purchase these REDs, would I ever be able to use them?

You’ll need the Unlock code every time you want to configure the RED device to another Firewall. 

You won't be able to use it unless you have the unlock code since it's already configured to another Firewall., and to request it. You need the following:

1. Request a transfer of RED device ownership 

2. Request to be Authorized Contact

These are the requirements before you can request the unlock code for the RED device and for safety & security purposes.
