Would this (UPNP) have changed from ASL 4.2x to ASL 6.0? 

Essentially all I did was upgrade from 4.0 to 6.0.  It was all happily working under 4.2x using tranparent proxy mode.

Basically, I am trying to configure ASL to open up everything (e.g. no Antivirus or surf protection, etc.)  and then lock things down one-by one.  But it seems no matter how I try to configure Astaro, something in v6.0 won't let that download the guide.  Yet if I use the Linksys or roll back to my trusty4.2x version, it works fine.  This one really has me stumped.

Make sure the block http connect methong is turned off.  That could be one issue.  Also make sure IPS is off..sometimes MS uses funky packets/protocols to do things and the IPS flags them as bad traffic.

Also are you importing your v4 configuration?

you cant import V4 backup to V6, only V5.2X to V6. 

Concerning the MediaCenter.
If you have an ANY rule it normaly should work, possible IPS is breaking the com. Activate logging for the Any rule, you should be able to see the packets from the mediacenter boxes. (or use tcpdump on the console to track down the communication)

The import file came originally from 4.x as migrated to 5.x and then a week later to 6.x.  

I've also tried it with a clean install of ASL without any importing of a config file.  I still got the same result even after opening up everything.  I'll try turning off all of the other stuff you suggested to see if that works.

Not uPNP then if it worked under 4 since ASL never supported uPNP.

This (apparently) has something to do with SQUID.  When II bypassed the proxy, the guide download worked.  

What I ended up doing was adding two URLs that are used for downloading the guide data into the  "Skip source/destination networks" section to exclude those two URLs from going through the proxy.  

Hopefully, if anyone else runs into this, it will save them some of the agony I ran into trying to figure out how to get the guide working with Astaro.

I've had no luck getting Media Center guide data through the firewall either.  I saw this post and plugged in the ip addresses of the sites I saw getting rejected when I tried to download the data.  No luck.  Which two URL's did you have success with?  Thanks very much.  _Mark
