Hi, all problem with 5.1 up2date are solved (in my enviroment).
I've check that if you enable CONTENENT FILTERING option on HTTP proxy (on v. 5.26 without any white/black list site) web pages work well.

I am running the 5.1 update and have tried this and it does not work in my environment.

Still not working for me, even with microsoft.com in the URL trusted part.  I must conclude that this is a bug.  Astaro can we have a response please.  I need windows updating to be reliable without bringing down the proxy each time

my Whitelist grown up to 17 entrys since v5, some in case of speed Problems.
Might be they work now after all the Up2dates...dunno.
Maybe add windowsupdate.com aswell or check the HTTP Proxy logs which sites the Client accesses.

Some Applications which run over http time out very fast, its not always a prob with ASL itself,but on the other hand its bad to add one domain each 3 days which got problems.

Maybe it would be a good idea if someone of the "officials" posts recommended whitelist entrys for critical updatesites of well known companys  like symantecliveupdate.com / windowsupdate.com / microsoft.com   ....etc.

I have added microsoft.com to the URL whitelist.  I get the scan now button in windows update but the IE crashes on 0%

But is not only related to IE doing a windows update from Windows 2000. XP and 2000 clients are also getting this with random sites (always related to dynamic pages with php and a lot of parameters) and Firefox clients under windows & linux (but a lot less times than IE).

Also IE fails almost every time with the administration area of our own web servers when updating our news (maybe the problem is related to the http POST command?). Doing a forced reload of the page works most of the times and displays the page. Firefox does a better job, but sometimes it fails also.

Until Astaro update 5.025 (if i'm not mistaked) we haven't had any problems like this. But now with 5.100 applied the problem is not solved, and my users are really annoyed.

There is any serious clue to solve or workaround the problem?

Time to bump this up.  Has there been any progress?  Our proxy is at 5.1 and I have tried whitelisting the domain having problems, however Explorer still has the same problems that others in this thread are having.  We are even having problems using a proxy (again, Astaro 5.1) that does not use surf protection.  Firefox works fine, but it's not really an option due to corporate directives, implementation, etc.  Any update would be appreciated before I have to open up a ticket for this.

I had this problem a few weeks ago with 4.025,  HTTP proxy and Windows Update under Windows XP Pro...

One thing I found by Googling a bit is to check 'proxycfg'...

Got to the command prompt and typr"'proxycfg" (no quotes)...

If the command displays "Direct access (no proxy server)." you need to change this setting...

Type "proxycfg -u" to import the proxy settings from Internet Connections manual proxy settings or you could set it specifically with this command by using "proxycfg -p proxyaddress[:P]ort"...

I can now use Windows Update...
