Speed Limit

hi.

i'm trying to limit the up/down speed from servers FTP service.

have done this:
QoS
Status:
activated the service on Wan connection

Traffikc selectors:
Server-> FTP service>any
any>FTP service >Server

Bandwidth Pools
sat the limit on 50 garanteed and upper limmit 50k

nothing happens!

is there more to it?

  • Assuming that you have your wireless access point on a different interface from your "Internal (Network)" - or, that you have a different range of IPs for wireless clients...

    You will need to start by creating a Services Group named (e.g.) "Web Surfing Responses" containing definitions of response traffic like "HTTP-Response" = 80->1:65535, "HTTPS-Response" = 443->1:65535, etc.

    Next, make a Traffic Selector 'Internet -> Web Surfing Responses -> {wireless IP range}'.

    Finally, on the LAN interface to which the wireless is connected, use this new selector to create a bandwidth pool limited to 5Mb.

    However, the preferred approach with Astaro would be a rule guaranteeing bandwidth to the non-wireless clients where both wireless and non- are connected to the same LAN interface, and the interface is configured with max bandwidth of 10Mb.

  • Another thought...  If you're using Web Security, you will want to use "Any" instead of "Internet" in the traffic selector.
