intel pro 100s and vlans

So no one here has worked with any intel cards with a vlan setup before.

What does the ASL Hardware Compatibility List (HCL) say?

Looks like several of the Intel NICS have VLAN support in ASL 5 & 6.

I tested the nics in a windows box and I was able to get vlan support after updating the driver. So I need to update the driver on astaro is this possible I've never been under the hood of astaro before?

Why do you think you need to update the driver?

Which model are your cards?

It is model PILA8460D3 here is the full specs I got them off of ebay.

Also I figured I needed to update the driver because I could not get vlan support in windows server 2003 to work unitl after I updated the driver.

curently running 5.206 with an e100 card, vlans no problem. in fact, I'm using a single nic and vlans for everything with no problems.

note: you need to use the e100 driver, and *NOT* the eepro100 driver.

So kd did you have to load the driver yourself or did astaro autimatically give you vlan support. So basically you are saying that I need to pick items 1 and 3 on the below link

So since you are running everything through one nic have you noticed any performnace problems? I plain to put at least 3 in the box. Are you mainly running your internal lan through the layer 3 switch or do you have it segmented so that you can run your public servers from it also. I mainly want to run internal network and test network. I plan on putting public servers on a regular dumb switch.

the driver was on the box by default, but I don't recall if I needed to manually change modules.conf to use it, or if it picked it itself :-/

What do you mean modules.conf and how do you edit it?

e100 is used by default, at least on ASL 5.x

modules.conf is in /etc

you can use a text editor to edit it, but I'd suggest just looking at it first.

vi and joe are both available on ASL.
