Dyndns DDClient no automatic update

Hi,
I´ve installed Astaro and I am very happy about it. I also wanted to use a dynds-updater and my decision was to use ddclient.
Now my problem:
When I restart my machine where astaro is installed, my IP will succesfull updated. But after 24 hours, when my provider kicks my and astaro has to dial again, the update of my dyndns account fails. I´m using the newest version of astaro (4.016) and version 3.6.3 of ddclient.
In the ddclient.conf, I set the following parameters:

daemon=300                              # check every 300 seconds
syslog=yes                              # log update msgs to syslog
mail=root                               # mail all msgs to root
mail-failure=root                       # mail failed update msgs to root
pid=/var/run/ddclient.pid               # record PID in file.

Is there something wrong with the parameters i set?

    I was really just expecting you to say "DDClient seems to be not running..."!!

    What I thought; it died! Now we have to do detective work as to why it died. Does it have a logging mechanism? Or can you run it interactively at console to get an error message? If it dies silently, that will be a bust to diagnose! You would have to introduce debugging messages in the code (hopefully you could contact the code's author and get a debug version -which might not be necessary if it's logging is good...)

    instead of investigating you could try the package which can be found @ http://docs.astaro.org/older_versions/ASL-V3.2/docs_v3/hacking/dyndns.tar.gz It uses ez-ipupdate and runs rock stable on my box.

    That's certainly easier!
    Unless this software has some trick functionality not in ez-ipupdate...

    I use the ez-ipupdate pne mentioned above and it works like a charm.

    Hi,
    I tried to install dyndns with these parameters in dyndns.conf:

    service-type=dyndns
    #service-type=dyndns-static
    user=myname:mypasswort
    host=myname.dyndns.org
    interface=ppp0
    max-interval=20000

    cache-file=/tmp/ez-ipupdate.cache

    But if I start dyndns, I get the following message:

    Starting Ez-IPupdate:/etc/rc.d/dyndns: line 29: 17563 Segmentation fault      $PROG
    1

    What do I wrong?

    Just guessing: the interface? It should be your external one?

    but I also get the same message:

    I don´t know what I´m doing wrong?!
