Managing Astaro from an Android phone?

Hi, has anyone gotten an Android to connect to webadmin on (SSL port 4444)?

I keep getting a connection error; tried a Samsung Moment and an HTC Hero (both run Android 1.5), with Astaro 7.3 and 7.4.

At first I thought it was because of the self-signed cert but now I'm thinking it might be because of the non-standard port.

When I get my hands on the phone again I'll try the end-user portal.

Also, what SSL clients work well between Astaro and the Androids?

    Hi Jetkins, when I searched before, I couldn't find a way to import the cert into Android; do you know of a way?
    Sorry, don't have an Android phone, but perhaps you could export the certificate to a PEM file using a desktop browser, mail it to yourself, then open it on your Android?

    Found out today a new info.

    Managing Astaros with a public IP / a IP not in the local IP Range where the Android Phone is connected works. Only connecting to a non standard Port Website in the same local subnet seems not to work [:S]

    I have sent today a support request to HTC...let's see what they find out.

    Hi, for me it doesn't work over the internet NOR on an internal network.

    This applies to the end-user portal on port 443 as well, with android 1.5 and 2.1.

    Have you tried generating a new certificate?  Have you imported the CA certificate?


    Why importing the CA Certificate ? Accessing a Astaro Webadmin via Internet works on my Legend, accessing a ASG in the local LAN via Wireless doesn't...

    Update: Opened a case on HTC support, but still no useful answer or solution to this issue [:(]

    Might be worthwhile reporting to the Android bug tracker as well, as it affects multiple phones.

    This seems  to be some  kind of htc related Issue, because a lot of other androids seems to work. Let's wait answer from htc support. Recommended them to download a ASG for testing issues [:)]

    HTC Incredible - Android 2.1 - OTA access does not work, but wi-fi local worked fine.

    Checked my webadmin settings to see if I was restricting to certain networks and was not.  

    Would not be an issue if I could get any of the Android 2.1 VPN connections to work to an Astaro 7.505 box!  Arrggghhh.

    Oh, yeah, and I was able to login to a smoothwall on port 441 using the phone OTA with no issues.
