SMTP Reports are empty

When I click on Email Protection the report on the right is empty saying no data available. However, at least 200 emails have moved through the proxy. The executive reports for smtp are empty also.

UTM v9

Where might I look to troubleshoot this?

  • I haven't rebuilt the database in ages. Usually hardware / environment problems cause such failures. But if I recall correctly, some of the commands that didn't work as root worked as user postgres
    Try su postgres and see if that works for you.
  • su - has same results as sudo -i. Not dismissing your advice, I did run it the way with the same results to be thorough.

    su postgres - had same results

    Finally ran the rebuild with the following:

    security:/root # /etc/init.d/postgresql92 rebuild
    Rebuilding PostgreSQL database, all reporting data will be lost!
    Enter "yes" to continue...
    yes
    :: Stopping PostgreSQLcould not change directory to "/root"
    done
    :: Initializing the PostgreSQL databasecould not change directory to "/root"
    done
    :: Starting PostgreSQL                                                                                                                                             done
    :: Restarting SMTP Proxy
    :: Stopping SMTP Proxy
    [ ok ]
    :: Starting SMTP Proxy
    [ ok ]
    [ ok ]
    security:/root #

    Now after the rebuild, I will wait for email to pass through and see if I get top senders, addresses, etc start actually having data.
  • Did this work? I have the same issue as well.
  • Interested as well, my work utm has entries the logs, but nothing in the reports or mail manager.

    Ian
  • I still have empty reports. Nothing has worked. I can see emails in the SMTP log via Mail Manager.
  • Well i have got this to work.

    On the main menu on the left hand side goto "Logging & Reporting" next go to "Report Settings"

    Check the box next to Email protection and set your desired length to keep reports. I set it as 1 month.

    Wait a few hours and bam they all start showing [:)]
  • That did the trick. I haven't noticed that check box before. Silly me for over looking it.

    Thanks for the assist.
