Incoming mail bouncing: list.dsbl.org

my work around was to remove the ist.dsbl.org from my spam list under mail security. I don't know why this became an issue as of today, been on that same list for years now... 

Anyone know of another list i should add or is this a astaro issue?

Same here, this started sometime during the night (Central Time zone), I also removed that entry from the list.
Would also like to know, if there is another/better entry to add to the list.

whats funny is if this service has stopped a while ago, why is it still being installed on astaro? wierd...

dsbl.org is NOT a default RBL on the Astaro --- it may have been on older versions, but it's not on the latest builds of V8 or on V9... perhaps you guys added that sometime in the past, and the list server itself is just now being decommissioned.

As of the current build of V9, the default (unlisted in Webadmin) RBLs are:
black.rbl.ctipd.astaro.local (Commtouch) and cbl.abuseat.org.  I seem to recall this is the same in V8 as well.

The only additional one I add in most cases is zen.spamhaus.org ... note that you should check the allowed usage information at The Spamhaus Project for this one, because if you exceed the limits on traffic they have set for the free, non-commercial use of the RBL, they will cut you off.  The paid version of their RBL service is pretty inexpensive though, and it is quite good.

Bruce, is there any way to use the DBL Spamhaus with the Sophos UTM?

I am running V7.512.  Under Mail Security> Anti-Spam>, the entire page was dimmed and non-functioning in the WebAdmin, however the RBL lists were still there. This led me to believe the problem was not initially the ASG120 because the features were disabled. But in playing around, even though the page was dimmed, you could actually click on an RBL and remove it from the list, but you could not save your changes. And list.dsbl.org was listed here. I was more confused than Vinny Barbarino.

I called Astaro and they were stumped as well. This functionality used to be available on an older version, but the newer license shut these features out and made them ala carte. Their determination was somehow the features were disabled from the WebAdmin, but not really disabled from the running config based on the last settings they had.

The workaround was disabling Mail Security completely and ditching the proxy, and using a DNAT.  I have one small issue now with being unable to send email from a local server to our domain exchange email server, but for the most part I am back among the living.

I'm sure you could use the DBL service, but it's usefulness compared to the Zen list is limited... I would use the Zen service.  DBL is meant for mail systems looking inside an email for links to bad domain names...

Yes, at some point in V7, they (Astaro) disabled the usage of the SMTP relay feature (minus the anti-spam features) that was "free" in the base license.  I suspect you were one of those who was caught in that conundrum.  The correct fix was to disable the feature, since it was no longer supported in that manner --- I think they had a bug where an end user could not manually change the settings, sounds like what you ran into.  BTW, they also disable the "free" usage of the HTTP proxy as well around that same time.

Since we're on V7 on the 1GB ASG120 boxes, Im thinking we may just jump to the new 2GB boxes with a trade-in allowance, skip V8 and go straight to V9 on the new license platform.  Astaro says V9 could run on the 1GBers, but not recommended -- I suppose similar to the V6 to V7 hardware requirements.

Actually i am running 7 still, as i have not upgraded yet, the upgrade is in the near future. But havent bit the bullet yet, as my 7 box is running fantastic... have had zero issues with it and traffic is running great. I do have an 8 box set up for testing and have imported backup and restored and work great. So as i was say upgrade will prob be done here in the next couple of weeks. Thanks for the lists i will plug them in. Thanks again

Dan, I am the same boat as you. V7 has worked so well for us I wouldnt bother upgrading were it not forced upon us with the new licensing and hardware requirements. It is what it is I suppose.
