My SMTP Rules are not being applied !!!

Hello all,

I have setup my SMTP rules for example not to allow any message that contains "football" to be sent. But my mail client (Outlook express) is sending these messages ignoring my rule ! Any idea ?

    OK, I think I see the issues.

    • The best situation would be to put the modem in bridge mode and move the 94.***.yyy IP to the External interface of the Astaro.
    • Assign a private IP to the Internal interface - like 10.1.1.1 with a netmask of 255.255.255.0.
    • Assign the Server 2003 an IP inside the Astaro "Internal (Network)" - like 10.1.1.2 with a default gateway of 10.1.1.1.
    • Disconnect the Astaro from the WAN port of the Linksys and plug it in to one of the switch ports.  Just use the Linksys as a wireless switch, not as a router.  Make sure that DHCP is only being served from one place.  Since you have Server 2003, I would use its DHCP service and turn off DHCP in the Linksys and the Astaro.  Also, make sure the range for DHCP is something like 10.1.1.100 to 10.1.1.199 so that it doesn't overlap the range of fixed IPs which includes the Astaro and your server.
    • Change the IP addresses for your Astaro definitions and in your Majodio software.
    • You have the IP of the zain smarthost in the Astaro host definition you created.

    That makes sense, I'll go ahead and do the steps , but I will need to change my modem first cause I don't think it will support bridge mode because it's a wireless modem (WiMax) I'm sure you have heard of it.

    It's like instead of connecting to a phone line, it connects wirelessly ..and I don't like this technology.

    Show a picture of your 'Routing' tab. I think the answer to your last question is: "Yes, that's the way the Astaro SMTP Proxy works. It accepts inbound emails, acting as a smarthost for your internal mail server.
