Viruses and .exe files via .zip attachement

I have blocked .exe coming as attachment under Email Security->SMTP->Anti Virus.  But .exe files are coming compressed via the allowed extension .zip.  Sad, this is valid for Viruses that are coming via .zip attachments.

Shouldn't Astaro look inside the compressed files for policy violations like Virus and attachments?

If NOT, this is a serious flaw...

    Hi,

         I know this is an old thread but did anyone find a solution to this issue of exe files being allowed through in zip files via SMTP? I just discovered this the other day while doing some work on our company network and tried emailing myself some files.

    We cannot block zip files altogether as some users receive legitimate files containing word, pdf, and other documents types.

    Any help is appreciated.

    extension blocking and also MIME extension filtering is still  (v7.501) processed is only for the "real" attachment, not inside containers/archives.

    But, of course, Virus/Malware scanning is also done inside ZIPs and other archives/containers.

    Ok, I spoke with several other people and it seems that other UTM systems suffer from this limitation as well. Astaro isn't the only one.
