Is it possible to install the essential version onto asg120?

Yes, all you need is an Essentials license.  Be sure to do a Factory Reset first - you can have very strange things happening when you remove licensing for a feature before un-configuring the feature.

If I want to do a fresh install, I use the software version not the hardware version - right?
I guess it is rev. 2 (astaro) I plan to install sophos 9.1 so I would upgrade ram eg. disk...Which hardware is inside?

If using the Essentials License, you can use the hardware version - it's the Home-Use license that only works with the software version.

Maybe someone else is familiar with the details of the hardware...

Hi, for the Essentials version, you shouldn't need more than 1GB RAM.

How old / what revision is the 120?

This box has 1gb ram I guess it is astaro asg120 rev.2

Recent versions need a lot of RAM for the HTTP content filter/proxy and Snort IPS.

However, the essentials license does not include those features, and Astaro/Sophos says that 9.x can run on 1GB, so it should be OK.

I'm running 9.006 at home, and WITH the IPS, my RAM usage is about 1GB.

Pretty interesting I run the same version on dell r320 8gb ram and around 40% ram is used...Looking forward for version 9.1...
