Sophos UTM v.9.006005 GA

UTM 9.006 is now available as GA (General Availability). We have a number of fixes and improvements in this package. The main two focuses are ensuring a quality signal on AP10's for our global install base, and fixing memory leaks and optimizing memory usage in the system (also part of the 9.1 Beta). You should notice a good improvement in memory over time when leaving WebAdmin open for extended periods, and the Web Proxy should no longer experience rapid memory consumption. A few smaller fixes are still under investigation and will be included in a future 9.00x Up2Date.

    Hi, around 500-600MB per Snort instance is typical, in my experience.

    Does it get worse than that?

    Yes it will climb above that. I am not sure why. The only conclusion I have come to is that snort is not releasing resources after using them......

    Here is some additional information. The ASG has been reloaded, and the config recreated since the posting in the enclosed link. it looks like somethins changed from 9002. The version noted in the link notes 9003.

    In another post someone else also noted the same condition after upgrading from 9002. I am still hunting for the post.

    Yes, we can confirm "RED with static IP" works fine with v.9.006005 GA !!

    I can confirm that this is NOT fixed:
    static IP address assignment does not work together with standard/split mode [9.0]
    After update RED with static standard/split mode (which is 500km away!) is not working. RED with DHCP is working.
    Also there is no alert e-mail with info that RED is down... (Or this will be in version 9.1) ?

    I am very dissapointed in Sophos for past few month....[:@]


    Update: So how I fixed this problem
    1) Place RED behind DHCP where it receives address and access internet.
    2) Set RED from static to DHCP in webadmin
    3) In that point RED will update its firmware - wait for it and check if you see it online in webadmin
    4) Set RED from DHCP to static in webadmin - wait few minutes.
    5) Place RED behind static address (So the same config it had before update) - after few minutes it will start to work

    Also after update Endpoint Protection Status shows that all my Endpoints are offline. 
    I re installed agent and only after that it showed me online in webadmin. 
    Imagine if you have 100 agents to re install without MSI package....

    Update: How I fixed this
    1) Reseted token and downloaded slim agent from webadmin (don't know if its neccesary to reset and install slim client only - but this is what i did)
    2) Placed agent exe on PC and manually installed it. Didn't removed previous version or stopped any services. Just started installation with admin account.
    3) After installation restarted PC. Webadmin showed that agent is online with some alerts which was generated during re-installation by agent service . Cleared allerts and now it is green and online

    Three days after the update to 9.006, swap climbed to 18% and still getting higher, day after day...  50% free RAM, should not swap.

    Problem seems not solved with the update...

    Stopping and restarting the IDS knocked down my swap usage from 12 to 7. It looks like it every time a update happens swap usage resets, then over the month increases.

    Swap usage still VERY high, will need to restart tonight cause some webpages started to timeout... (sluggish performance).
