Question: Throughput new Hardware

Hi, ALL IPs that connect to or pass through the firewall (from inside) will be counted.

Hosts with IPv6 will be counted twice.

Static IPs are counted IF they traverse the firewall. Printers, switches, etc. with static IPs shouldn't get counted unless you access them from one LAN to another.

If you are sure that unused IPs are being counted...
Some users have reported that running internal network scanners against or through the http proxy to a DMZ can cause extra IPs to be counted... are you doing something like that?

Nope, i just pinged a non-existing IP in my internal network for testing purposes and once i pinged it, it appeared on the list.

Where did you run the ping from? If from on the firewall itself, I'm not too surprised, but if from a PC in the LAN or another LAN, it should not be counted.
Are you running Astaro/UTM 9.005 or ?

Power User home licenses have, in the past, been given to active beta testers. However, some of the recent betas have had hardware prizes, and I don't see an announcement of what the current 9.1 beta prizes will be, so I'm not sure if they're still being given out. 
They used to be more needed as the standard home license used to be limited to 10 IPs. Of course, with IPv6 and all the new gadgets, it could be argued that 50 IPs are limiting.

FYI, inactive IPs will be removed from the count after a week.

I've ran the ping from one VLAN to another VLAN where the IP was, as i said,never in use nor connected at all.

Sounds great, although i dont need hardware prices at all, its just that 50 IPs are very limiting nowadays and i seriously love Sophos UTM. 100 IPs will be fine but 50 are somehow a little too less [[:(]]

Yup, i know that, but once i fire up all my local hosts, i reach 60 IPs instant [[:(]]

I can't reproduce that between my LAN and DMZ, with UTM 9.005

1. What version are you running?

2. Are you doing any NATs or MASQ between your VLANs?

3. what ping program are you using, and on what OS?

Did you already set static IPs on all your printers, switches, routers, etc.? Also don't point them at or through the firewall for DNS, NTP, etc.

Note that there is a free 'essentials' license available, but you will lose IPS, automatic updates, and many other features.

I'm running same version as you - 9.005-16. No MASQ between VLANs, just MASQ between VLANs + WAN. Ping Windows 7 + Debian. What is the point in setting static IPs in DHCP-Tab when i can simply set static IPs on the hosts themselves?

Because devices have many different ways of setting IPs, which can be a pain. i.e. my printer requires a special program to be run on a local PC. Often it's easier to leave the device on DHCP, and set an IP in the DHCP static mapping.
However, using the DHCP server to set the IP will cause the IP to be counted in licensing.

I wonder if anyone else can reproduce your problem with IP counting.
