Another ASG for HA

Hello, 

We need to implement Hot standy HA to our 425 for our growing network, we dont need licenses if we buy another ASG 425 am i right? and if we buy an ASG higher than 425 model, install the licenses from our old 425, make this as a primary and confgure 425 as the hot standby, it is possible?

    Just keep in mind:
    1. Both devices should have the same software version.
    2. Both devices should have a link in the same network (or one will stay "unlinked").
    3. The unit with the greater uptime becomes the master, the other will be erased!

    Do a backup first and watch the ha logging for errors.

    The higher revision should be the "preferred master". In case of takeover it would be a bit slower, but the master will switch back if the original master comes back.
    But it's not supported to mix x64 and x86 kernel in one ha stack.

    If our new ASG 425 arrived, we need only to transfer the config file from the old and thats it? even the license will be transferred automatically right? and we need only to reset to factory defaults the old one and make it as a slave, am i on the right track? Thanks in advance.


    Hi, licenses are not included in backup files, but I don't think a passive unit needs a separate license.
