Hyper-V Native Support

Hello,

I'm thinking of trying out the UTM software on Hyper-V 2012.  I was wondering if the Hyper-V integration tools are built-in so I can use the full feature set (synthetic adapters, heartbeat, etc.)?  If not, is there a way to integrate them?

    I'm also wondering if the tools for Hyper-V 3 (Server 2012) will be included in a future update or available to install separately.

    I can certainly understand wanting to keep support for older Hyper-V versions such as 2008 R2 as well.

    If someone has used UTM on Hyper-V, what has the performance overhead been like?

    I don't know if Hyper-V integration tools are built-in or not, but Hyper-V itself *is* supported, so if the integration tools aren't included then you could file a feature request for "Build-in, or include retrieval tools for Hyper-V Integration Tools on UTM9".

    If you have trouble with UTM on Hyper-V and you have Support, please consider filing a ticket so that any problems can be corrected.

    Hyper-V tools are built-in. I think it would be possible to somehow ask on installation or even better, get the information on which version of Hyper-V the installation is running, so that the right guest tools can be loaded on start of the UTM VM. With this we would be able to have the right tools loaded for the different enviroments (2008/R2/2012) and furthermore we could simply change the enviroment of the VM without "degrading" it.

    My 2 cents on that. So basically it is needed that a VM could ask its Host "hey there, what is you version?" and the host answeres like "Hell, I'm built 2008R2" and then the VM goes "Well allright, so let's load 2008R2 tools then!" And this should be done on every boot.

    hyper-v is NOT supported officially..despite the code being in their kernel..so if you avhe problems you're on your own.....vmware is the choice hypervisor for UTM with Xen also being officially supported.

    My understanding as a current Sophos Support associate is that this is incorrect. There was confusion regarding this briefly but this has been straightened out, Hyper-V is indeed supported.

    Ok got things clarified..hyper-v IS officially supported

    May be not the right place, but Hyper-V info. I installed our SUM 4 on an IBM Bladecenter S under Hyper-V 2012, and its running pretty good. Live Migration tested not yet.
