Citrix Xen and Astaro?

Anyone using this combo?
Can we actually get this installed fully paravirtual?
Any step by steps around to get this one going?

  • it will run but yo aren't going to have optimal performance.  also when you shutdown/restart the host the guest os isn't going to know that so the host will forcibly hard stop the guest..which WILL result in the astaro becoming corrupted and crashing eventually.  If you want it to work the best use a supported hypervisor.

  • I'm trying to install asg-8.202-28.1.iso as a fully virtualized VM using SLES 11 Xen. The install hangs at 40 percent during the Hardware Detection while detecting network devices. I've tried using different different nics but can't get past this point.

I thought I would try the version you suggested but can't locate among the newer downloads.

This is my first install. Does anyone have any other ideas?

Hello, This is also my problem. In fact, astaro 8.2 is not installable not even like a fully virtualized domain under Xen 4.
I use Debian Squeeze with Xen 4 in last patches...
I still did not find the way how to resolve this problem.
  • use another supported hypervisor.  Xen is not supported by astaro at this time.

  • Astaro is now supported under Amazon's cloud, yes?
Isn't Amazon cloud services Xen based?
  • Astaro is now supported under Amazon's cloud, yes?

yes to both.  but amazon did the work on their end to put in the special support for their implementation of xen.  Astaro has to do the work for the "vanilla" xen that everyone else uses..it takes time.  9.3 will bring official Astaro supported Xen.
