How to force a pattern update!

Hi there, 

as it is currently not clear to everybody how to force the system to the latest version, 
here is a small how to document that explains how you force the system to update to the lastest version.

The pattern version 12410 will fix both, the IPS and the AV issue!
But if you have these features disabled, the system will NOT fetch pattern for this feature and you will stay on the same, old, broken version. This has been introduced to save bandwidth by not updating pattern that are not used..

The workaround is to set the pattern update interval to 'manual' and save it.
than go to the Overview page and you can click on 'Update patterns now'. 

Please make sure that you have disabled the faulty IPS rules, IPS is enabled and that  Dual AV scanning is enabled. 
That should bring you to the latest pattern version.



you can follow the up2date log to see if the patterns get installed correctly.

    Glad to see things are working again for most people now.

    Fortunately my system is now also updating again after being stuck on Pattern version 12409 for a few days. It also looks like update server v7up2date3.astaro.com (a.k.a. v7up2date2.astaro.com) is now back online again, which probably did help.

    I am still bothered by the seamingly small errors on Astaro's behalf that - combined with the definition errors - became such a big problem for a lot of people.

    Im still having problems with two of my three ASG120s with similar licenses.  I have the two IPS ID's commented out in my IPS and IPS turned on.

    I have three boxes, all running 7.504.

    One looks okay and is on 12417 which is the latest update. Its set up for auto updates at the moment and has caught up on its own.

    I set the other two problematic ASG120s to manual update then did a manual Up2Date fetch.

    One box is still on 12406 and one on 12410 and wont update newer versions.

    The Up2Date log just shows:

    I dont know how to do shell. Im stupid and need WYSIWYG. How would I do that.

    You can do this from either an SSH connection or from the console (physical keyboard and monitor).
     
    You will need to do the setup for this access from Management>System Settings>Shell Access in WebAdmin.
