Up2Date 7.505 Soft-Released

[FONT=Verdana][SIZE=2]Greetings everyone. Today we have released Up2Date 7.505 via our Soft-publish process. [/SIZE][/FONT][FONT=Verdana][SIZE=2]For  those who just like to download, you can find it on our ftp here: ftp://ftp.astaro.de/pub/ASG/v7/up2date/u2d-sys-7.505.tgz.gpg [/SIZE][/FONT][FONT=Verdana][SIZE=2]at about 142MB in size. Barring any large unforeseen bugs or problems, this is the same version that will be pushed to all installations in a few days on the 11th of May.

This version is mainly to update some of the ASG code in preparation for the GA release of Astaro RED. In addition to bug fixes and stability changes, we have also released a few new features, like support for multiple syslog servers, a read-only WebAdmin role, and XAUTH support in site-site IPSEC Tunnels.

As part of our extending the home user licensing to 50 IP addresses last winter, we are introducing a small change to the customization ability of installations using the home-user licensing. Focused around the Web Security block page (and other areas like this), a "home-user only" notice will appear and customizations of these types of pages is now limited so that we may continue to offer such a large amount of protection for free home use by everyone.

    Just to make sure I am clear on the new limitations,  you are talking about the Customization tab right? I only have two changes there... a Tux logo and a simple Terms of use sentence.  Will these go away? If so, that is no big deal... but I do love my Tux logo. [:)]

    What a bummer.... but a small price to pay for such a great product. I am just glad it is not any security stuff.

    I applied the soft update to 7.505 a few days back and one of my SIP connections (on port 5065) stopped working.  Had to add a DNAT.  Not sure why/how it worked before, but it did...

    Hi everyone,

    The GA push of 7.505 was delayed just a few days due to some time constraints. We usually don't like to publish them right before a weekend. The release content is still not expected to change from the soft-release at this time.

    See you early next week with an update.

    Just an FYI you will have to redefine your syslog server after this update. Every system I installed this on the syslog config was lost. It;s not a huge deal but if you don't know up front you would not know it untill you happen to check that configuration page or you went to review syslogs and they were not captured.

    I have an ASG 220. Would I need to download this new update or is there a different one for appliance based? Where can I download that?  I'm wanting the home based one to use at home for testing.

    The home-use license doesn't work if the 220 "knows" it's a 220; you need the software version of Astaro.  Certainly, you can use the 7-day license to set it up, then, before the license expires, make an unencrypted configuration backup, fdisk the hard drive and load the software version from a CD.  Put the backup onto a USB memory stick, plug it into the Astaro and reboot - the Astaro will see it and restore the configuration.  Now you can apply the home-use license.

    The only functional difference between Astaro versions is the license they require, so, no, there isn't a different Up2Date.  The only thing you lose with the software version is the LCD messages.
