ASG eating bandwidth!

i am having a big problem...
everyday, ASG is downloading updates, & taking the whole bandwidth (2048 kbps), even i set the up2date feature to manual...
i don't know what the problem is :-(((
please check attached...

    Why do you think it's Up2Dates?  The Executive Report should help you identify the servers, clients and services involved.

    It's probalby not up2date packages.  You need to review your accounting and proxy logs.  Look for stuff like Adobe updater; I've seen it swamp a customer's T1 connection before, due to their misconfiguration of the perimeter firewall (yes, I fixed it!)...

    Astaro doesn´t provide such large updates daily even more you turned off up2date.
    But you can be lucky: you have an ASG to find out the reason.
    Easiest way is a click on "Web Security" after you have had such peaks.

    I believe it is not ADOBE, it is the ASG, i view the Executive Report for this week, the TOP Client is ASG itself, downloading 11.1 GB out of 16.7 GB.
    Also the Pattern Version is being updated by its own, i didn't click on "Update Patterns Now", but the Pattern Version is updated.

    Hi Silver,

    Even updating constantly the patterns, we come nowhere near 11 gigs (or even 100megs) of pattern up2dates in a week. Those spikes are not normal incremental pattern up2dates, are you at the latest version? Perhaps it is an up2date failing and repeatedly trying to download? (that would be say a few hundred megs, but during a week that still wouldn't be 11gigs)

     If you would like to post your executive report (black out with paint anything you dont wish to share) we can offer some help. Also, look not at just the top client but also the destination, where is this traffic going, and what time(s) are these spikes occuring?

    2 things

    1/. pattern update is done automatically unless you have it set to manual.

    2/. The ASG might be the destination what are the other users downloads. Which version of ASG are you using? There was a bug in an earlier version where a client would stop a download, but the ASG would not drop the connection, so it would continue to download. You might have one user who is trying to download a large file and not seeing any progress so they kill the download and start a new one.

    iirc, traffic through the http proxy will show the external Astaro interface IP as the client, which isn't exactly correct.

    similar problem here: every day specific times @-traffic massive slows down; no connections from clients; RTM shows ASG as "user"; in the moment i disable auto-pattern dl everythings fine again...
    and:

    Hi,
    which version of ASG are you running?

    There was a fix posted in v7.501 for that problem. Another fix is to change your update times to every hour or more.
