AxG 7.501 Soft Release

In accordance with our new way of releasing Up2Dates. 7.501 has been released to our FTP site and will propagate to others shortly. This Up2Date will not be "pushed" to all boxes until October 27th, and until then can be installed by downloading the package and applying it manually.

If you have any feedback on the Up2Date, please feel free to post it here.

    You might want to copy a backup file off the hard drive, if you don't have one already.

    this should do it:
    cd /var/up2date/sys
    wget ftp://ftp.astaro.de/PATH_TO_7.501up2date

    auisys.plx --showdesc (I'm not sure this is needed if you're going to force it)

    auisys.plx --rpmargs --force

    actually the "--rpmargs --force" bits are no longer mandatory. Everything should work also without them (since 7.400 or even before). The showdesc portion is need to visualize it in WebAdmin instantly for starting installation there. If you're going to install via cmdline anyway you can also skip that.

    the package got all the tests finished successfully. It should not be riskier than any pushed release and we usually also ship the soft-released version to the public some time later. However in that soft-release phase (you could call it 'acceptance phase') you can give direct feedback regarding the changes included in that package and should get direct answer (well, at least in case of any new issue introduced with that package).

    Hi All, Thanks for your advice.

    I ended up downloading 7.501 from the FTP site. I then created a local FTP server on my PC with Xlight. Then from the Astaro command line ran the wget-ftp command pointing it to my local ftp "server", once downloaded I updated the system as instructed above.

    SADLY 7.501 has not fixed the portal login issue. I'm still stuck! Any ideas would greatly be welcomed.

    Hi, obtain a backup file (from the console if needed), and re-install from CD.

    The Up2Date push of this will happen shortly. We made a small chance vs. the soft-release, a first for this process for us. In order to allow the ACC 2.1 to operate better, we changed the acc device agent slightly. If you would like to use ACC 2.1 beta with 7.501 and have already installed the 7.501 soft-release, do the following to "re get" the new up2date version.

    edit /etc/version with joe or vi, and change 7.501 to 7.500
    up2date normally via the up2date mechanism.

    If not, the new acc 2.1 device agent will be again included in 7.502. Just a heads up, this only applies if you are using the soft-released/manual downloaded 7.501 with acc 2.1, otherwise you won't get a benefit from doing this.

    We will yes. Also, note that you do not need to "force" an up2date install unless under dire circumstances. We don't QA test with "forced" installs, and doing so could skip some valuable checks done during an installation process. As such, if this is your normal policy, you should refrain from it, especially in production environments.

    I did what you suggested, after a reboot it still shows 7.501 in the portal. What is interesting though is that with the reports and email sent it states 7.500! Any ideas...
