Astaro newbie setup questions.

I appreciate your time in answering the following for me  -

I am trialling the home user software in preparation for a business install of a fully licensed V7 product. Although I am a Astaro newbie I have configured various software firewalls on Un*x systems previously.

The office network currently has 2 internal IP address ranges assigned. Would it be better to use a Nic for each address range rather than use a seperate router or routing table?

Because the office environment utlises a number of static printers and photocopy machines and security devices do I need to take these into into the license count along with users pc's or only count IP's crossing the Internal/External network?

Thanks again

  • In Network >> DNS>>Global Empty

    You should have 'Internal (Network)' there.
    In Network >> DNS>>Forwarders Use forwarders assigned by ISP
    (currently 203.21.20.20)

    If you can't see the forwarder listed, then you need to add that manually.
    In Network Security>>Packet Filter Internal(Network) --> ISP DNS
    ISP DNS --> Internal(Network)

    Once you've made the corrections above, you shouldn't need these.

    Cheers - Bob

  • Thanks BAlfson -

    I had already tried several permutations of settings.

    So to cut a long story short I reinstalled, after replacing the Nic's just in case - who knows what settings I had changed. So is now working for internal network -> internet access.

    Will now move my questions to other sections of the forum based on subject.
