Hello all. I started a topic on a licensing issue I was having and due to the responses, it really got my think of how I currently have my home network setup. I was hoping that I could get some advice or opinions on how you would setup this network if it were your network.
Cable modem >> Astaro firewall >> Cisco 2950 switch
Connected to switch:
Linksys wireless router running in AP mode
Server running Windows Home Server – file server
Server running Windows Server 2003 (no domain) – handles DNS and DHCP
Desktop (WinXP) and 3 laptops (WinXP) – 2 of the 3 laptops use both wireless and LAN
Desktop (WinXP) used on for burning media (DVDs, etc) – this does not need a internet connection.
Here is a breakdown of the IPs being used:
192.168.1.100 - Desktop
192.168.1.101 - laptop1:LAN
192.168.1.102 - laptop1:wireless
192.168.1.103 - laptop2:LAN
192.168.1.104 - laptop2:wireless
192.168.1.105 - wife's laptop: wireless only
192.168.1.106 - desktop used for burning media
192.168.1.125 - DNS server
192.168.1.70 - WHS server
Thoughts and or advice? And yes, I do want to run 2 servers.
Thanks for your input…
Erik
