Hardware Recommendation

Hi there,

I have tried and tried to get this software working on a computer I have at home but it is not having any of it.  I would like to build an ITX Mini PC.  Could someone please tell me as to what works and what I should buy ?

I have intentions of replacing my router with this for my home network.  So it needs to be an ITX system.

PLEASE could someone tell me what to buy [[[:)]]] [[[:)]]] [[[:)]]]

    Hi Barry.  I've done the LCD software in the past for other ASL releases, but I never got around to building a tool chain / configuration to take advantage of the LCD in V7.

    I went ahead and bought the LCD case for the day that I do eventually get around to it.  I've also convinced the lcd software guy (I forget the package, but I think it's lcd4linux) to implement a proper driver for the pico lcd in the mini-box.  Since ASL V7 has lcd4linux built-in (though I doubt the version is recent), it wouldn't take a whole lot to get this up and running.

    I think the main thing I was waiting on was for the Astaro folks to release the GPL tree for V7, as this would give me the original compilation/configuration information for lcd4linux.  It appears that they do now have it up (for version 7.3 no less) at ftp://ftp.astaro.com/pub/

    OK... I've had lcd4linux running in Astaro before with a CrystalFontz 634 (serial) LCD, but the last time I compiled lcd4linux (when I installed Astaro 7), it wouldn't initialize my display's contrast correctly.

    Interestingly, after a fresh install of the 7.380 beta, I notice that the lcd seems to be getting partially initialized by Astaro. I had thought they they didn't load lcd4linux unless it was the appliance version of Astaro.

    Anyways, it would be nice to have it working again; I had network traffic graphs for each interface working before, but I'm not sure I'd want to pay extra for another LCD when I get a mini-ITX system, and I was planning to get a fanless one.
