Jetway (via) C7 mobo + Jetway Gibabit module

I'm starting to think that getting a motherboard with 1 or 2 NICs and a gigE VLAN switch makes more sense than getting the 4-port setup... the board/NICs would be a lot cheaper...

Looking at the Jetway J7F4K1G5D, it's $110 on eBay stores, and has  Dual RealteK RTL8110SC gigE NICs and a 25W 1.5GHz CPU, or the J7F4K1G2E which has the 7Watt 1.2GHz CPU, and is fanless, but it's  $165.

Anyone using one of these boards?

Anyone using these NICs with Astaro and VLANs?

If you value your time, stay away from the realtek gigabit cards.  I tried 5 of them with Astaro ... most of the time I couldn't even get a link light.  The 100BT chips from realtek seem adequate, but all the realtek gigabit stuff that I was using for the jetway was complete garbage.

I assume you're talking about the gigE modular (3-port) NICs... 
What about the onboard (non-modular) Realtek gigE NICs?

Looked at some VIA-brand motherboards too, but from what I can find, they are very expensive compared to the Jetway boards, and I can't find one with dual GigE NICs.

Yeah, I was using the modular boards.  But from what I gather, it's the same chipset from those used in the built-in ones.  There seemed to be a combination of hardware reliability issues as well as proper driver issues in astaro.  If you've got the time, order one with assurances that you can return it if there's any problems.

Bought this for the Dual LAN ports onboard. Astaro did not see the NIC's so I could not use this board

I would if you can tell me the steps. I was not able to install as the setup got to the point that no LAN cards were detected so it would not go any farther. If this can be run from the CD at some point then tell me how and I will run the command

You'd have to use a bootable CD linux distro such as Knoppix, Fedora Live, Slax, ...

e.g. for Knoppix, boot from the CD, open a shell (text terminal), and run the command. Then, you could save it to a floppy or USB drive, or to this website if Knoppix supports the NICs.

This is what shows from a live CD Was not able to figure out how to get the whole text as the GUI would not start and I was not able to figure out how to mount any USB drive

The lspci line for the NICS is
Ethernet Controller: Realtek Semicondutor co., LTD. RTL-8110SC/8169SC Gigabit Ethernet (Rev 10)

I guess Astero does not have that driver Mod in the install. It's a shame as this board is perfect for this applacation as both NICS are onboard. Keeps me from having to add a NIC in the one open slot
