Hello, I'm looking for a small dual Ethernet machine on which to run Sophos UTM Home Edition. Any recommendations?

Any work. I replaced the seagare 500 gig raid 1 with 2 1.5 tb hitachi drives. The hitachis were replaced by dual 3tb hitachi drives.
I have given you two configurations that will perform with ips on. You keep bringing up the atom. If you want to go faster i have given you your options based on the information you gave me. Look at my installed firewalls link in my sig. It is up ti you if you want to stay with the atom or upgrade for faster performance.
Hi William,
Noted and thank you for all the great info. What is the speed of the hitachi drives?

no problem my bad for assuming..[:)]
For home edition, what you were pricing out is probably overkill. Heck, I am only running a Pentium 4 HT with 4 Gigs of RAM with a 20 Mbps Cable pipe.
Yeah, I would try to stay away from Realteks if you can but I currently use them and after some tweaking, they are working more as they should.
have a look here ... for USA ...

Thank you very much for the link, There product looks interesting so I would like to order one for testing. If it works well then I will install Sophos on it and install at my daughters house and one at my father-in-laws. The unit I was thinking of testing is the NA342 NA342 - Desktop Network Appliance Platform with Intel Celeron Processor J1900 Processor and 4 LANs What do you think about that unit? Is there another small form factor unit you would recommend? Need something that looks like a home router because this device will be sitting on a TV stand in the living Room.

depends on the wan speed. as long as it is sub 200 megabits it should work fine for a home environment.
