This morning I find that my firewall has been reset. When I log into it, I see the setup screen. Even Firefox didnt recognize the SSL certificate any longer. I am/was using 7.301.
I've had good success with Astaro; and my customers would agree. I've never had a perfect software or hardware package that never needed patching, from any manufacturer. If you can find one, I'll look at it. Yes, I have crashed Cisco routers and switches, even with their reputation patches abound. I think Astaro does a good job, overall...
I might also add none of my customers have ever suffered any severe system issues whilst on the Astaro solution (save the occasional dead hard drive, lightning, you know, the usual stuff)... one thing that may help is that we require managed customers to run their unit on a UPS with shutdown capability.
As to database stability--I've not heard of any significant DB issues until the conversion to Postgres, at least for the lifetime of Version 7. It now appears they've addressed the Postgres issues. Version 6, however, was prone to "flipping" out on heavily loaded devices or devices that did suffer power outages... Version 7 has been a step in the right direction.
I've seen Sonicwall and other similarly contructed devices fail due to some form of data corruption after power outages as well... So it's not restricted to systems like the Astaro.
