special setup for ASL4

the 'PPPoA' interface type should work for you. please try it again and report what happens after configuring (check packetfilter log in webadmin and /var/log/mdwlog). If reporting back, please post your settings, too

I’m not sure about the Zyxel router from Inode, but I’m pretty sure that you do not have to establish a PPTP tunnel from the ASL to the router. 
I’m using the ADSL from the Austrian Telekom and one from T-Online – both are finally terminated with a router and this router is doing the “PPTP-job”.
So I think you could connect your ASL directly to your Zyxel using standard Ethernet connection. But if you provide me with some details about the type of your routers, I’ll see if I can find out how to connect and them and how to setup your ASL.

Hi everyone,

with the normal xdsl@home you will not be able to connect your astaro - only windows will do. But there is a little upgrade available from inode - multiuser 3 Euro something per month. 

But be carefull there are two different multiuserupgrades - the one on the website - the Zyxel router just works as NAT router - all ports from outside are closed - and the other option - you have to order that one by mail - it works like a "normal" ADSL Modem your ip 10.0.0.140 Zyxel 10.0.0.138 you can dial in from 4 different Computers at the same time !!
All Ports from outside are open !! (by the way you get up to 4 different public IPs !) 

I hope this helps you out.  

Note: xdsl@home uses a gateway in a different subnet - it is a mix of routing an bridging - the configuration is slightly different in each "Bundesland" - some netgear routers work for example in Bregenz but do not work in Dornbirn !

No I just wanted to say, that the setup for my provider on W2k works  fine. I want to use a firewall because I am  using different OS on my PC and i don´t want to setup the connection on each OS .
I used ASL 4 with ADSL from the austrian provider UTA without any problem. I used the setup-doku for ASL with ADSL from Telekomm Austria from docs .astaro.org.
My new provider Inode uses instead of the Alcatel-modem a Zyxel-Prestige 650-router. This router comes pre-configurated from the provider. I don´t want to change the routers settings because I also run VoIP for my home telefone over this router. My provider also says that if you change the routers configuration it will cost about 130 Euro to reconfigure the router.

I have tried to setup ASL V5 but without success. The problem looks for me like this:
If you set the external interface to DHCP it will receive an IP-Adress for the NIC after some time. This is shown  on "Current Interface Status".
If you set the external interface to PPPoA you have to setup a static IP-Adress for the NIC. You will receive am error-message on the screen. I haven´t found a solution to avoid this error or a workaround.
It is the same problem if you use ASL 4 or 5!!!!!!

I do not understand why you configure the external interface of your Firewall as PPPoA – as I understand the iNode FAQ’s for xDSL@home they provide you with an IP-address over DHCP and your FW is connected to an Ethernet-port of the Zyxel-router - so you just set your interface to “standard Ethernet interface” and it should work fine !!! – (the Zyxel should do the rest)
If it should still not work, please let me know - I try to figure out what you have to configure to make it work.
