looking at some of the mod posts, that won't happen until at least v2.

To me this is very much a proof of concept thrown into the wild to get feedback on what is missing, what is essential and what would be nice to make it usable.
The beta team responses to questions/issue raised by the beta testers is not up to the usual high standard of UTM betas.

There aren't any statements about when fixes will be released other than v2.

I ran the manual update a little while ago and 3 items updated about 5 minutes before updating this thread.

So from that I assume the automatic process does not work in this version of Copernicus?

Agree with Ian on functionality so far. The project is ambitious and I wish them all the best but UTM is not going anywhere at-least in the near future.

From my minimal use, 
1. hyper-v drivers not installed even when you download the vm appliance so no shutdown without going in the menu. Might as well use the ISO[8-)] 

2. The cpu usage inside the appliance is very high probably due to lack of drivers but I have two cores assigned with 4gb ram on my windows 10 workstation and only doing basic web traffic categorization and scanning. Appliance shows load around 2.x with no waiting or any one process using anything out of the ordinary and the host machine shows no cpu load at all. This is on a i7-4790 with intel NICs

3. They need to bring UTM to cyberoam and not the other way around. The whole menu system is a mess. I think someone decided that it will look cool on a tablet but lost the functionality altogether. The current layout with same items under multiple headings doesn't make sense.

4. No MTA. Although not many people host their own mail servers, but the option to have it available was nice. 

5. Logging and reporting are not anywhere near what the UTM offers. Although at first glance it looks impressive but as soon as you dive in to see what exactly each fancy graph is doing, you realize that it is worthless information like service highlighted in orange because you didn't want IPS enabled and stopped the service.

6. I have no problem with policy based management but don't understand the labeling as business policy etc. Isn't it all business?

7. Everything under one policy sounds like a good idea but I liked the way UTM let you set your core firewall rules all at one place and your DNAT etc at another. Also, IPS is much more streamlined in the UTM. Copernicus lets you tweak IPS a lot more but it is scattered all over the place.

There are many other little things that seem to over complicate simple tasks and thats not because I am comparing Copernicus to UTM, it seems they are trying so hard to over simplify stuff that it is making it harder.

well considering that sophos bought astaro and before they finished integrating/replacing their utm with astaro they then bought cyberoam.  Then before they finished those two projects now comes copernicus.  yes it's a mess because they keep adding more projects onto more projects.  I hope the acquisition binge is over because the quality of their entire product line is suffering.
