[8.164][BUG][FIXED] system restart - reason unknown

I am not sure if this is a bug or some other issue. 

Since I have upgraded to 8.164 my system has rebooted itself twice, so far, without warning.

The notification I receive has the reason as unknown.

"Sent: May 3, 2011 9:48 AM


System was restarted
Reason: (unknown)

I did not have this issue with 8.163.

My system is a Dell Dimension E521 with 3GB RAM and AMD Athlon(tm) 64 X2 Dual Core Processor 3800+. Please let me know if more information is needed.

    Looks like mine are all just rx-0 also.  I have attached screenshots of all the NICs and also the contents of my irqd.cpu.map file.  I too should be around for a least a little while this morning and should be able to respond quickly.  If SSH access into the box would help I could also provide that if needed.  Thanks!

    I'm not sure where to look but I did look at the System Messages and Kernel messages.  This is the only type of message that I see in the Kernel log, it occurred 5 times in one day.  On that day the system rebooted twice.  The process number is the only thing that changes.

    Process 5176(irqd) has RLIMIT_CORE set to 0

    Interesting... the kernel log does not contain this on days it doesn't reboot.  I have attached a log from a day when it rebooted.... hope this helps.

     the reboot occured around 11:23PM... exactly when this stuff was logged.

    Danodemano, I see you have three NIC's defined eth0, eth1, and eth2.... hmmm, I have three NIC's yet I only have eth0 defined.  Very strange.

    It all just looks like normal startup things to me but I could be overlooking something.

    From the two usefull reports from you at least one is already fixed in 8.165.  The other reported issue may be fixed as well in case of using multiqueue NICs.

    I'm not really sure how to respond here but, I wasn't the original reporter of this issue.  I just happened to get screen shot then I was able to get my serial port working so we could grab the Oops message.  Are you trying to say that we've given up on debugging this?  It would be nice if others having the issue put their hand up so we can get an idea of how many people this is happening to.

    I don't think anyone has given up. I also have multiple NICs and am running the 64 bit version of 8.164.
