Ok, lets do it the other way.

Is there a technical reason why it is not possible to have a definition with an interface ip. Without talking about sense or nonsense, just technical reasons.

I have to second Ulrich. There are no such reasons.

I'd vote for making it possible, because there is no technical explanation of why it isn't allowed to work as i want it.

As I wrote in a previous message, backend(MDW) handles interface_address network objects different than host network objects.

Secondly the confd prevents duplicate host definitions. This is not done randmon,
its to prevent accidentally creation of duplication host definitions, which make it easier
for administrators...

What is diffrent in handling? Please help me to understand. For know there is no technical reason not doing it.

Confd is not preventing duplicate host Ips. I could have two definition with the same host ip. (And thats very good, because of diffrent services runnig on the host/ip, which might change later)

Confd prevents you to add hosts definitions if there is already an interface configured with that IP address, which IMHO makes sense.

If you dont like this concept, open a feature requests Astaro Gateway Feature Requests.
