[7.891][QUESTION][OPEN] is esxi 4 with update1 support

Hello Friends !

can u please tell me this beta support esxi 4u1

i am neonatal in/with vmware esxi ,but i managed to get installed esxi server 4 with update 1 ,with 4 gb ram 1 physical nic ,(3 virtual nic) 260 gb sata hdd

installation of asg v8 beta went very smoothly (originally installed 7.890 later updated)

some observation :

cat /var/up2date/download_progress doesn't show updated/current time and update ,it stuck at some point and after some interval even if u hit same command it show same time and download but with interval of 3-5 mints if u enter again same command it show update (if it is showing 25% and if u enter same command after 2 min still it show 25% but if u enter same command after 3-5 mints it show 50% or so )

datadisk usage is using 15% of 1.5 gb in 2 days

i have some question can u please please send me pm so i can ask some more question

Remember you can only have 4 virtual NICs on a VM.

on 1 physical nic ? what if i use 2 physical nics in 1 Vm ? what if i use 2 or more vswitch within 1 vm

another question

can i have HA ,,in one esxi box ...i am planning this way i will use two asg guest in same esxi box and can i have HA within this two box ?

On vsphere ESXi 4 Update 1 (The latest) you can have a maximum of 4 virtual NICs on a single virtual machine.

(I found much to my disgust, I wanted 6).

Yes I guess you could run HA bu running two Astaro's on the same ESXi box.

I got two physical servers with ESXi on each and ran HA that way OK.

But remember, only 4 NICs per machine so.

can i have 1 guest on esxi on dmz network (192.168.3.x) and 1 physical machine on dmz on same network ?(192.168.3.x)

i just setup a HA when other node is down ,is other node suppose to show active

but this node is up and running ?

can u please give me some more dtls on HA
this HA is in active-active mode

@utm_kid: We found a number of bugs in the cluster/ha code in the last 4-5 days. I would suggest you wait for the next release (scheduled for next wednesday) before trying anything related to ha/cluster. The fixes we made are really worth to wait for them.

HA/Cluster hasn't changed much since V7. In general i'd suggest you start by reading the V7 Online Help, starting with Chapter 3.11 (Management>>High Availability). You should find the answers to all of your questions there.
