7.500 Released

Hello there Beta Testers.

We are today, (Sept 17th) going to release the 7.500 GA version as a soft-release. This means it will not be pushed out via our content distribution network to all installations, but as we have been doing, we'll release it as a manual download first. Today there will be 2 Up2Date pacakages only; 1 for 7.405->7.500, and one for 7.490->7.500. 

ISO images will follow next week, then on Oct 1st, we will push 7.500 via the Up2Date network. There will shortly be an Up2Date blog posting about the 7.500 release with links, information, my release notes etc...

Now for the important stuff [:D]
We will be analyzing the feedback from the Beta and will then award our Amazon Gift cards to the winners for the most valued participation. Also, active beta testers will receive a special home use key with more allowances than a normal home use key. This and a few other surprises we have planned for tomorrow. If for some reason we're not able to fully complete / wind-down the beta process, we'll wrap it up next week, so give me a bit of leeway if I can't get all the keys and such finalized before the weekend.

Thanks very much for your feedback. We'll probably keep this Beta forum open only for a while longer, and will close/archive it as usual once everything is final. For now, watch this thread for update posts.

    and it's flying down to my system now... you guys must have upgraded the "pipes" to your FTP servers!

    [LEFT]One very minor thing for you Angelo, that doesn't even warrant a separate thread. The English version of the manual downloaded from the Support section of WebAdmin is still labelled as "Administration Guide (Beta Test)".[/LEFT]
     
    [LEFT]I'm assuming that this is the final GA manual, Date: 2009-08-12 15:24 UTC, just somebody forgot to take the beta label off before adding it to the 7.500 package. [/LEFT]

    please update your system by using ssh ::audld.plx and auisys.plx it was updated before they release soft-release :::::

    Let me ask this: Did you update to 7.500 from 7.490?
     
    The install I'm referring to in this thread was a 7.405 to 7.500, so I'm thinking now that in the RC to GA package it was updated, but not in the "full" package.
     
    Tried running audld.plx then auisys.plx. No updated packages avaialble.
     
    You appear to have PM's blocked.
     
     
    Update: I was able to get the new version off of my test install at home, which was 7.490 RC. Slap it on a thumb drive and take it into work.
     
    So, here's what I'm seeing on this whole manual issue after installing the up2date to 7.500:
     
    7.490 --->  7.500  If you have the manual update released a few days ago = final manual
    7.490 --->  7.500  If you haven't gotten the manual update = beta manual
    7.405 --->  7.500 = beta manual
     
    As Marcel states below, if after updating to 7.500 you find yourself with the beta manual through WebAdmin, you'll get an update to the final version sometime early next week.

    It's the wrong manual also after 7.490 -> 7.500.

    Hi ,

    i was stupid or it was anxiety ,i was downloading  wrong package and later read properly and now ,
    I am now download 7.490 to 7.500 package which is around 75 mb (i have 128kb slow connection ) sorry i dont know about 7.405 to 7.500 path 
    (for PM block u have to add to add me i will send u pm later )

    The update will not be available through regular automatic u2d channels until October 1st.  
     
    If you wish to to load 7.500 prior to that time, download the file from the link at the bottom of Astaro Up2Date Announcements: Astaro Gateway 7.500 Released and manually update through WebAdmin.

    If anyone has the updated manual in English and can provide a copy (download or email), please PM me.  I have full confidence that Astaro will get this fixed quickly, but it is a concern for me to not have updated documentation for the version I'm now running in production.  [:)]



    When updating from 7.405 to 7.500 directly (with downloaded package) you should already have the latest online-help (now also available in German!). All beta users should have get the latest 7.500 online-help and manual packages by today - some hours before the packages were uploaded to the FTP server. Once the Up2Date 7.490-7.500 has been applied your machine will no longer contact the beta-server for getting new stuff but use the regular servers instead. Update of those packages via official servers for all V7 users will follow beginning of next week.

    In case you urgently need the manual over the weekend, please leave me a PM.
