Did the RAM limits change for Home edition for 16.05.2 to 4GB?

Did the limits for RAM on Home edition get changed with SFOS 16.05.2 MR2? I'm only seeing 4GB after update. Still only showing 4GB after rolling back to SFOS 16.05.1 MR-1. I was seeing 6GB usable before upgrade.

  • Just to put it out there ...

This has all the symptoms of a licensing issue.

Given that the problem remains after rolling back to MR-1.  It doesn't appear to be in the OS.  It smells like the licenses were modified, 'downgraded', upon applying the MR-2 update.

  • Here is my outputs:

I will run the memory test when I leave for work and check back in on it later.

  • Hi ,
No idea if it is releated but I have a ZBOX CI323 NANO-U and it uses an Intel N3150 cpu as well. What hardware are you using for your XG?  what hardware are you running sophos on? I agree with  and think this is some kind of weird licensing issue, but maybe its a licensing issue with ties to a certain piece of hardware?

the kernel RAM limits appear to be correct... something else is restricting the RAM.
    SFVH_SO01_SFOS 16.05.2 MR-2# cat /proc/cmdline
    BOOT_IMAGE=16_05_2160 quiet maxcpus=4 mem=6G ZD=80 SM=0 ro console=tty0 console=ttyS0,38400n8 console=ttyS0,9600n8

    Interesting!

  • I use the same ZBOX setup, with an Crucial 8GB Kit and a 60gb SSD.

  • BOOT_IMAGE=16_05_2160 quiet maxcpus=4 mem=6G ZD=80 SM=0 ro console=tty0 console=ttyS0,38400n8 console=ttyS0,9600n8

  • I recently setup Home edition on a zbox Ci323 nano as well. It has 2x4G memory sticks, They were fully tested using memtest86 before installing XG.

I booted the system from a linux cd after seeing only 4G used by XG and the linux OS sees all 8GB.

Have the memory test to do.

UPDATE - My memory test (PASS 1)

Finally, a memory test. Refer: https://community.sophos.com/kb/en-us/125025. Note: It may take 1-2 hour time to complete a full scan of 6 GB. Post the output.

Ok, is this really necessary?  This test the physical memory by running a test pattern.  I feel pretty comfortable saying that everybody's memory didn't go bad at exactly the same time.
