When I turn on HTTP Scanning most all web pages stop loading, used online scan tools to scan the urls and they do not have any malware.

I turned on both and set up the web proxy port of the utm in my browsers lan settings. Now all pages load but the webfilter rule does not work anymore.

what I have seen on a couple of installations is that AV engines cannot update so as soon you enable Scan HTTP, pages stop loading or surfing is very slow with strange page format.

Make sure Avira and Sophos are correctly updates under System > Administration> Updates.

In my cases, both failed to update. So reinstall the XG using the MR2 iso from your Sophos page and HTTP scanning will work.

Today I configured our first Sophos XG, previously we have been using Fortigate's.

This issue was not a good start!  When you aren't familiar with a product a bug like this results in a lot of wasted time.

On a 105W the issue was not present when running firmware 15.01.0 but is present with firmware 15.01.0 MR-2.  I tried I downloading the MR2 firmware again from My Sophos, factory defaulting and doing a basic config but the issue still existed.

The only solution was to roll back to 15.01.0.
